Teaching: half-load release for Program Director Duties Program Director: Managing any and all issues pertaining to Tx DSHS compliance and CAAHEP accreditation standards - Communication with Clinical Director and other lead faculty - Maintaining relationships with area service providers (facilities, EMS providers, fire departments) - Direction of program faculty; maintaining adequate staffing daily - Handling student issues which have been elevated to Director level - Completing college administrative duties as they arise - Ensuring lab and ambulance are stocked/organized/ready (fueled) - Recruiting efforts: social media, HS career days, parades, etc - Tracking student progress; providing re-direct/guidance/counseling as applicable - Managing any and all issues pertaining to Tx DSHS compliance and CAAHEP accreditation standards - Creation of course schedules, review catalogue descriptions/fees - Adoption of textbooks - Assignment of lead faculty roles; generation of pay contract - Scheduling of adjunct faculty for lab needs Notification of Texas DSHS at least 30 days in advance of any EMS course - Communication with and registration of perspective students - Providing “Authorization to Test” to NREMT when student completes requirements - Submitting Graduation Applications for students completing department certificates - Entering collected data into SPOL - Monitor and modify curriculum as needed based on national guidelines - Monitor and modify certificate and/or degree plan as appropriate - Responsible for overall effectiveness of EMS Program - Work with Medical Director to ensure program remains compliant (Texas DSHS, CoAEMSP) - Creating and monitoring budget - Hiring and evaluating all EMS instructors - Approving monthly adjunct timesheets - Train/orienting (lead) faculty to compliance issues, record-keeping requirements - Yearly report to CoAEMSP (of CAAHEP) - Holding yearly Advisory Committee Meetings - Maintaining all records as required by regulatory bodies (Tx DSHS, CoAEMSP) - Scheduling and coordination of NREMT Psychomotor Exams - Preparing for and participating in site-visits by regulatory bodies (both scheduled and unannounced)

Requirements

Minimum of a Bachlors degree with at least five years EMS experience and five years directly related educational experience. Knowledge of: Must be familiar with the rules and regulations of Texas DSHS, Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board, and the Commission on Accreditation of EMS Programs (CoAEMSP) standards. - NREMT Paramedic preferred; CPR Instructor; ACLS Instructor; ITLS or PHTLS Instructor; PALS Instructor. - Texas DSHS Licensed Paramedic - Eligible for Texas DSHS EMS Advanced Coordinator Certificate course (Texas DSHS EMS Instructor is pre-requisite to this cert – then replaced by it) See bullets below for eligibility requirements. Sedentary Work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.
