Loudoun County Fire and Rescue, is a combination career/volunteer organization comprised of over 500 employees and 800+ active operational and administrative volunteers. The Department is a growing organization that serves a large and diverse population located 30 miles northwest of Washington, DC. Loudoun County Fire and Rescue is seeking qualified applicants for a full-time Volunteer Recruitment and Retention Specialist working 40 hours a week. Successful candidate duties will include; promote recruitment and recognition; develop and execute continual targeted recruitment campaigns through social media and community outreach. Contact and prescreen candidates to refer them to the appropriate internal and external agencies. Oversee verification of state mandated background checks and notification to proper agencies. Support new candidates through onboarding processes, orientation, and basic certification courses. Coordinate and teach basic onboarding orientation. Will be responsible for administering required basic internal courses through in-person and online platforms and record and verify completion. Develop and coordinate recognition programs to include family day, graduation, anniversary program, photo ID program, and achievement recognition. Routinely attend agency, system, and state wide meetings as a representative or presenter. Develop and maintain reports to identify practices and gaps in service. Maintain databases and software of volunteer activity. The successful applicant should have knowledge of a fire and rescue combination system, volunteer operations, procedures, and training. Must have proficient knowledge of Excel and working knowledge of Microsoft Office products.

Selection process comprised of application review, interview and background investigation, to include criminal record check, DMV check and fingerprinting.

Requirements

Requires any combination of education and experience equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree in volunteer management, fire and/or EMS science, public relations, government studies, social services or a related field, and at least 2 years of related work experience. Loudoun County volunteer operational fire and/or rescue experience is preferred. Hours of work vary and will include evenings and weekends. Must be able to lift 40 pounds.
