Job Details

The Vermont data manager oversees the statewide EMS data collection (SIREN) system, the licensing and certification databases (GLSuites) and manages other EMS and public health data-related projects of statewide significance.

The data manager assists the EMS chief in the formulation and implementation of program policy related to data submission and extraction and serves as chief liaison between the Vermont Department of Health and all EMS organizations required to submit data.

Duties include outreach to EMS agencies and Districts for training, quality improvement programs, and regulatory investigations as well as the creation of reports that drive injury-prevention programs and lead to evidence-based practices in Vermont EMS.

A qualified candidate will possess the abilities to develop data collection and evaluation methodologies and understand the processes needed to develop and implements evaluation methodology related to various health data programs.

Requirements

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor's degree in health data analysis/management, statistics, public health, epidemiology/biostatistics or a related field AND two (2) years or more of experience at a professional level in a public health program or in emergency medical services administration, or other similar healthcare or medical administration or research setting.

OR

Associate's degree in health data analysis/management, statistics, public health, epidemiology/biostatistics or a related field AND four (4) years or more of experience at a professional level in a public health program or in emergency medical services administration, or other similar healthcare or medical administration or research setting.

OR

High school diploma or equivalent AND six (6) years or more of experience at a professional level in a public health program or in emergency medical services administration, or other similar healthcare or medical administration or research setting.

Preferred:

EMS experience and/or current EMS certification.

Master's degree in health data analysis/management, statistics, public health, or epidemiology/biostatistics.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

Candidates must pass any level of background investigation applicable to the position. In accordance with AHS Policy 4.02, Hiring Standards, Vermont and/or national criminal record checks, as well as DMV and adult and child abuse registry checks, as appropriate to the position under recruitment, will be conducted on candidates, with the exception of those who are current classified state employees seeking transfer, promotion or demotion into an AHS classified position or are persons exercising re-employment (RIF) rights.
