Job Details

Christiana Care Health System is a non-for-profit, health system which includes two hospitals with more than 1,100 patient beds, a home health care service, preventive medicine, rehabilitation services, and a network of primary care physicians and an extensive range of outpatient services.

We seek a Paramedic to join our Emergency Transport Team. The Transport Paramedic provides advanced and critical care life support to Christiana Care patients and those requesting transfer into our health care system via ambulance transport. The provider is qualified to care for patients across the lifespan, works under the supervision of the Critical Care Transport Manager and Medical Director.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Provides advanced life support care from initial contact until the patient is relinquished to the accepting medical facility, maintains thorough patient care documentation.
  • Assists the transport nurse in providing care for the critically ill and injured patient from contact at referral agencies until care is relinquished to the accepting medical facility, maintains thorough patient care documentation.
  • Practices within the designated scope of practice as defined by the Board of Medical Practice of the State of Delaware, Christiana Care Health Services, and the Office of Emergency Medical Services Paramedic Standing Orders.
  • Maintains competency in knowledge and psychomotor skills by participating in ongoing laboratory and clinical experiences. 
  • Communicates educational needs to department leadership, maintains skill checklists and continuing education records.
  • Performs assigned work safely, adhering to established departmental safety rules and practices, reports to supervisor, in a timely manner, any unsafe activities, conditions, hazards, or safety violations that may cause injury to oneself, other employees, patients an visitors.
  • Attends staff meetings and critical skill sessions as assigned. Assists in pre-mission check of vehicle and equipment. Serves as a resource for all staff when transporting specialty patients or to referral agencies. Serves as a role model teacher and clinical resource. Acts as a liaison for our program by communicating with all agencies that may require our services. Maintains awareness of current issues and trends in critical care transport.


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Registered EMT-P in the State of Delaware
  • National Registry certification required
  • ACLS, PALS, PHTLS, Health Care Provider CPR required.
  • NALS certification obtained within two years of start with program
  • Three years’ experience in an active prehospital service required.


Schedule


This is a full time position with a rotating schedule of 7a.m. – 7 p.m. or 7 p.m. – 7 a.m.
