The Idaho Department of Health and Welfare’s Bureau of Emergency Medical Services (EMS) and Preparedness is accepting applications for EMS Field Coordinator and EMS Field Consultant openings. These full-time positions are located in Boise, Idaho.

 

As an EMS Field Consultant or Coordinator, you’ll provide leadership, training, and technical assistance to local EMS agencies, hospitals, fire departments, law enforcement agencies, disaster agencies, and city and county officials. You’ll need a passion for EMS and a focus on helping keep the EMS system in Idaho strong and resilient. If you have a good mix of interpersonal skills and solid understanding of EMS systems, plus a strong desire to help shape the future of EMS in Idaho, we invite you to apply for these openings.

 

These positions involve considerable travel with overnight stays and some weekend and evening duties.

EMS Regional Consultant (EMS Field Consultant): This position is the first of the EMS job series and requires good knowledge of EMS system components and operational design, good knowledge of EMS education programs, and experience providing patient care as a licensed EMS provider. Responsibilities include providing technical assistance to local government and emergency medical services (EMS) agencies regarding emergency services and pre-hospital patient care, responding to incident command posts or emergency operation centers during multi-casualty or hazardous materials incident, and coordinating the administration of EMS certification examinations.

 

Health Operations Field Coordinator (EMS Field Coordinator): This position is the second of the EMS job series and requires certification or licensure as an EMT, AEMT, or Paramedic by any state within the past five years, AND at least one year of experience advising on basic legal rights and procedures, researching and interpreting laws and regulations, and drafting policies and procedures. This position coordinates and performs inspections of licensed EMS agencies and educational facilities. The Coordinator also schedules, coordinates, and proctors EMS certification exams, and researches policy, regulations, and other resources and assists in the development of interpretations.
