EMS, 12 month Faculty and Program Coordinator

College of Southern Maryland invites applications for a 12-month, non-tenured track EMS faculty member and Program Coordinator at the La Plata campus. The faculty member will be responsible for the coordination, planning, preparation, presentation, and evaluation of classroom instruction and related activities to promote student –centered learning. The faculty member is responsible for performing assigned duties during the day, evening, or weekend on the La Plata campus or center to which the faculty member is assigned. At a minimum, the related activities include instruction, holding office hours, serving on various committees, and participating in local, state, regional, and national professional activities and organizations. A faculty member performs all other duties as directed by the Division Chair, Vice President of Academic Affairs, or the President, or designee.
The faculty member will teach 15 credits per semester; 30 credits per 12 month contract period. The faculty member will schedule, publish, and hold 5 office hours per week during the academic year, including fall and spring semesters. The faculty members will participate in professional development opportunities and perform professional service hours based on faculty placement in rank, as set forth in the Faculty Handbook.
Primary areas of teaching responsibility include: Paramedic and Emergency Medical Services
In addition, this position has the added responsibility of being the EMS Program Coordinator. As such this individual is responsible for managing the annual operation of the program, and leading the development and implementation of EMS program initiatives to address current trends. This individual will coordinate course schedules and faculty assignments, contribute to development and management of the budget, monitor data regarding the program, contribute to preparation of regulatory reports, and participate in grant writing and program development as assigned.

- Master’s Degree in Emergency Medical Services or related field
- Active NREMT paramedic certification
- Active Maryland paramedic License and/or equivalent license
- 3 -5 years field experience in the delivery of out-of-hospital emergency care
- 3 -5 years teaching experience in EMS
