Lake Superior State University seeks a full-time, tenure-track faculty member in the School of Criminal Justice, Fire Science and Emergency Medical Systems to start January 2018

Responsibilities will range from providing didactic and clinical instruction; evaluating paramedic students; assuring the preparation, monitoring and submission of required and appropriate paperwork to state and national certification entities.

Professional and scholarly activities are expected, but quality undergraduate teaching is the primary responsibility for this position. Additional responsibilities of the position include recruiting and advising students, marketing programs, course and program assessment, and university/community service. The successful candidate should enjoy working in faculty team and teaching settings. Rank and salary will be commensurate with qualifications, expertise, and experience.


A minimum of a master’s degree and positive work experience teaching in a university environment.Current clinical knowledge and skills in pre-hospital emergency medicine are required with a minimum of two consecutive paramedic courses lead or co-instructed. Must possess or be able to obtain Michigan Paramedic and Instructor/Coordinator license, American Heart Association ACLS and BTLS Instructor certification and PALS, ITLS/First Trauma Care (or equivalent) certifications – within 2 months of hire.

Recent work experience in emergency medicine is preferred. Formal teaching experience is preferred. Positive experience with CoAEMSP accreditation.
