Job Summary

Position responsible for providing classroom instruction for students enrolled in the EMS program.

Instruction may include Basic EMT to Paramedic topics in accordance with state and national standards.

Assignments may include theory courses, skills laboratory supervision and instruction, and/or community based field learning assignments as determined by the EMS program director.

The Faculty member is also responsible for supporting student learning by providing quality instruction in courses that the instructor and the director agree will be taught.

Quality instruction includes clear course objectives, prepared and relevant class activities, effective and understandable presentations of learning materials, timely responses to students, and a positive atmosphere in the classroom.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in EMS or Fire Training or equivalent combination of training and experience in appropriate field of study required.

Appropriate certification or demonstrated proficiency may be substituted in performance or skill classes.

Philosophy compatible with that of a comprehensive urban community college.

Preferred Qualifications

Master’s degree preferred.

Prefer teaching experience at the community college or university level.
