Salary: Starting salary range: $60,900.42 $96,764.88 annually.Academic training and teaching experience will form the basis for salary computation as determined by placement on the regular salary schedule of the College. A maximum of step 8 at the appropriate salary grade will be awarded to new faculty. Job Duties:

The Assistant Professor, Emergency Medical Education (EME Simulation Lab Coordinator) is primarily responsible for coordinating the EME laboratory and for teaching a variety of courses in the discipline of Emergency Medical Technologies. Coordination responsibilities for the EME laboratory include the creation and incorporation of simulations utilizing live people and high fidelity manikins. Courses to be taught could include Emergency Medical Responder, Emergency Medical Technician, Paramedic Preparation, Paramedic, Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Pre-Hospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS), Tactical Combat Casualty Care (TCCC), Pediatric Education for Pre-Hospital Professionals (PEPP), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) and CPR for Basic Life Support (BLS) Provider

Minimum Qualifications:

Must meet all of the qualifications listed under 1-4 below:
1. Currently licensed or eligible to be licensed in the State of California as a Physician, Physicians Assistant, Registered Nurse OR Paramedic. Must possess license by time of appointment
2. Two years of experience in advanced life support pre-hospital care, and knowledge of the course content of the U.S. Department of Transportation Emergency Medical Technician-Paramedic National Standard Curriculum HS 808 862 March 1999
3. Must meet one of the following qualifications under a) or b):
a) Any Bachelors degree AND two years of professional experience
b) Any Associate degree AND six years of professional experience
4. Qualified by education and experience in methods, materials, and evaluation of instruction, which shall be documented by at least forty (40) hours of instruction in one of the following:
a) Possession of one of the following certificates by time of appointment: California State Fire Marshal (CSFM) Fire Instructor 1A, 1B and 1C; or the National Fire Academy (NFA) Fire Service Instructional Methodology course; or the National Association of EMS Educators Level 1 Course

Only coursework completed at, and degrees awarded by, accredited institutions recognized by the U.S. Department of Education will be considered as satisfying the minimum qualifications. Coursework and degrees that are completed outside of the United States are required to have transcripts evaluated (evaluation to U.S. equivalency and a course by course analysis) by an appropriate U.S. credentials evaluation service. NOTE: For professional experience, a year is defined as equivalent to 40 hours per week for 10 months
